Welcome to KhaneMe ("we," "our," or "us"). KhaneMe is a discovery platform that helps you find mess services (community dining establishments) near you. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
This Privacy Policy complies with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the IT (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). By using our App, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.
We collect precise (GPS) and approximate (IP-based) location data, used exclusively to display mess establishments near you, filter results by proximity, and improve service coverage. You can control location permissions in your device settings; disabling them will significantly limit core functionality.
Your favourite mess list, blacklist, and filter preferences.
We use your information for core service provision (discovery, personalization, search), analytics and improvement (usage analytics, impression tracking, performance monitoring), communication, advertising, and security and legal compliance.
We share only aggregated, anonymized analytics with mess establishments. We use Google AdMob for advertising (which may collect device identifiers, IP and usage data). We may share data with trusted service providers (cloud hosting such as AWS/Google Cloud, analytics, support) who are contractually bound to protect it. We may disclose information if required by law. In a merger or acquisition, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity.
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest, access controls, secure authentication, regular audits, and secure cloud infrastructure. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Under the DPDP Act, 2023 you have the right to access, correction, erasure, data portability, withdrawal of consent, and nomination. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@khaneme.com or use the in-app support feature.
Our App is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. Users aged 13–18 should review this policy with a parent or guardian who consents to and supervises their use. If you believe your child under 13 has provided us data without consent, contact us immediately.
Location data is essential to show nearby mess establishments, calculate distances and provide accurate results. Android: Settings > Apps > KhaneMe > Permissions > Location. iOS: Settings > KhaneMe > Location. We recommend "While Using the App" for the best experience.
We display ads through Google AdMob, which may be personalized. To opt out: Android — Settings > Google > Ads; iOS — Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising; Web — google.com/settings/ads. Opting out won't reduce ad volume but makes ads less personalized.
The App may contain links to mess websites or third-party services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, content, or any transactions with them.
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside India (cloud servers such as AWS/Google Cloud and Google AdMob). We ensure appropriate safeguards in accordance with Indian law.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time and will notify you of material changes in the App. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.

Mess name, owner name, owner phone number, email address, FSSAI number (optional), GPS location, physical address, working hours, and up to 5 mess photos.
Thali details, dish information, menu updates, and availability — displayed to consumers on the KhaneMe consumer app.
Device model and OS, app usage data, IP address, log data, and performance metrics.
Profile views, thali clicks, and aggregate demographics. We do NOT provide individual consumer identities — all analytics are aggregated and anonymized.
To create and maintain your public mess profile, enable location-based discovery, provide engagement analytics, communicate with you, improve the platform, comply with legal obligations, and prevent fraudulent listings.
Mess name, location and address, working hours, mess photos, thali names and prices, dish details, and FSSAI number (if provided).
Owner's personal name, email address, phone number, and personal identification documents.
We share data with trusted service providers contractually bound to protect it. We may disclose information if required by law. We NEVER sell your personal information or share consumer personal data with you.
Account data: until closure plus 90 days. Analytics data: up to 24 months. Communication records: up to 3 years. When you delete your account, your public profile is removed and personal data is deleted after 90 days.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, withdraw consent, and raise complaints through the app settings or by contacting our Grievance Officer.
We implement encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security assessments to protect your data.
